Eighth Day

Seven days and seven ways and seven omens past,
Seven years and all the fears that never came to pass.
So now what happens afterwards when doomsday doesn’t come?
Pick up all the pieces and resume what we’ve begun.

Desperate and defeated when I thought it was the end,
I cried up the heavens for a sign that it could send.
But nothing, not a single word, I stood with bated breath.
No hopes, no fears, not even tears, I felt the chill of death.

And on the eighth day, the sun will shine again.
The world will keep on turning, we’ll look back at where we’ve been.
In each fleeting moment and transcending all of time,
Through high and low and dark and light, this endless journey mine.

Death of sorrow, birth of tomorrow. Death of sorrow, birth of tomorrow.
Forget tomorrow – In the ashes lies the key.
Get past your sorrow – It can take you where you want to be, to start again tomorrow.

And on the eighth day, the sun will shine again.
The world will keep on turning, moving us from where we’ve been.
In each fleeting moment and transcending all of time,
Through high and low and dark and light, resume the upward climb.

All the expectation brought the tower to the ground.
The rigid walls that held the power all came crumbling down.
So now we have to reassess and redirect our force,
When the end is not the end, but just a change of course.

And on the eighth day, the sun will shine again.
The world will keep on turning, moving us from where we’ve been.
In each fleeting moment moving us through time,
Through high and low and dark and light, resume the upward climb.
And when the eight day comes it’s one more chance to shine,
Through high and low and dark and light, this endless journey mine.
